Well the title is absolute Bull Crap, but this article is correct. Government regulation kills people. It destroys free enterprise. It causes people to have to work harder and get less.

It causes a minutia piling effect and requires more justification of further laws to define the ones already written. Government regulation punishes the best companies and lowers standards for industries. Government regulation increases prices and causes inflation. Government regulation decreases health care benefits and increases costs. Government regulations cause wars that kill people, by escalating trade wars to help weakened companies and dying industries which refuse to adapt or innovate to changing markets. Government regulations are used by competitors to attack other businesses in the market place when they cannot compete because they have inferior products. Government regulations are a stepping-stone for government workers who lack the skills or brains to make it in the real world; allowing them to work in industry later to fight the future onerous over regulation. Government regulations have crippled the United States in world markets. Government regulations and regulatory body growth have raised the deficit. Government regulations are linear in thinking and cause more harm than good. Government regulations help insiders and hurt innovators. Government regulations have created a new paradigm where humans enjoy the right to be irresponsible. Government regulations will eventually destroy the United States and then the world.

Therefore Government regulations are pure evil and the only possible purpose of them would be to slow the forward progress of mankind. Why on Earth else would a civilization put up with such bull crap? Think about it.

YOUR RIGHTS and Responsibilities as a Renter - Protect Yourself

Of course, I'm not referring to your doctor who, like Mary Poppins, is practically perfect in every way. But let's just say that the rest of us physicians have things we could do better...

1. Taking time to actually stop and get to know the patient.

I know one lady who says she has a better relationship with the checkout clerk at the grocery store than with her physician. It's true that doctors have a legitimate need to see a certain volume of patients in order to cover practice-expenses and still have money to take home. This translates into a limited amount of time per patient. However, some of the time-pressure doctors feel they are under is of their own making, and even the same amount of time might be better spent.

How is this any different from what a restaurant owner has to do? The restauranteur has to supervise employees, handle deliveries, and oversee the preparation and serving of food, yet still finds time somehow to chat with the customers.

2. Sticking to appointment schedules.

Yes, medicine is unpredictable and doctors must meet the medical needs of the patients in front of them before moving on to others. Patients understand this. But scheduling ten different patients for a 1:00 p.m. appointment is inexcusable.

3. Remembering what happened at the last visit, what test they asked for and why they asked for it.

Need I say more?

4. Dealing with more than one chief complaint per visit.

This is a variant of the time-pressure issue. With the allotted time being only just adequate to cover one problem, woe to the patient who has two or three. There is no easy solution apart from scheduling another visit to handle an additional problem. But if you're the patient, it's in your best interest to prioritize your problems and take control of the agenda. Get the most important issue out on the table first thing and before the doctor launches into an unrelated and time-consuming tangent.

5. Diagnosing conditions for which "objective" tests are not available.

Even modern medicine doesn't have good tests that show every condition as an abnormal blood-level or as a spot on a scan. But that doesn't mean that the untestable conditions don't exist or are somehow less credible. For example, there is no confirmatory medical test for migraine, but unless the 12% of the population experiencing this problem is lying, there are a lot of folks out there for whom the tests might be normal, but they aren't.

6. Staying interested in you when there are no more tests to order or procedures to do.

This is not a good time to drop the ball. Regardless of the outcome of a test or procedure, there is still some unmet need to be addressed.

7. Delivering on promises.

This one seems so needless. For example, why would a doctor promise that records and films will go to a specialist and then not follow through? Better not to make such promises in the first place.

8. Picking up a telephone to call another doctor.

I don't understand why this occurs, but physicians often seem incredibly reluctant to phone another doctor to sort out a question concerning their shared patient. Sometimes they order a nurse or clerk to do it instead, or leave the issue unresolved.

9. Respecting boundaries.

This bears explaining. Boundaries refer to the lines at which one person's rights and responsibilities end and another person's rights and responsibilities begin. Crossing a boundary without permission usually leads to grief and resentment. An example of one doctor not respecting a boundary with another doctor is when doctor #1 tells the patient to change the dose of a medicine prescribed by doctor #2. This leaves the patient caught in the middle.

10. Calling you back with results of procedures and tests.

Once patients have had, say, a scan, a colonoscopy or a blood-test, they start worrying about all the most dangerous things that might turn up. A simple phone call to the patient that nothing bad turned up on the tests and that the details can be discussed at the next visit--even if it comes from staff--prevents a lot of worry and sleeplessness.

There seems to be a recurring theme here. Perhaps I'm revealing my age when I say I am reminded of the chain-gang boss in Paul Newman's "Cool Hand Luke" movie who drawled, "What we have here is a failure to communicate!"

Friends and families who once used to keep in touch infrequently with high long-distance rates and slow postal mail are now getting net savvy and using new modes of communication to stay closer than ever. Here are 7 ways to use the Internet to connect with friends and family.

1. Email. It is almost a no-brainer, but it needs listed because many people do not use it to its potential. If you only have email access at work and do not want to use your work account for personal email (a good idea!), try a web-based service like Yahoo and Hotmail. Create address books to send messages to numerous people at one time. Make sure that you understand netiquette (etiquette on the Internet) such as not typing in all capital letters (it is SCREAMING) and be careful not to forward along spam. Check out any possible hoaxes at Snopes.com.

2. Build a family homepage. Use it to post family events and information such as new baby announcements, directions to the wedding, and vacation pictures. You can get a free homepage through some Internet providers like AOL. Other companies will host your page for free if they can advertise with banners on your page. Our first page was a simple page using Microsoft FrontPage that gave information about our wedding. Our next was a baby announcement with pictures within hours of our first daughter being born. If you don't want to create the page yourself, use a quick and easy template like those at Babies Online.

3. Start a message list. Allow friends and family to choose whether they want to stay connected by email or web by creating a distribution list such as a Yahoo Group where members need a password to join. You can keep the list small by including only immediate family or make it large by including your entire high school graduating class.

4. Instant messaging. Instead of phone calls, talk instantaneously online with a messenger service like Windows Messenger or AOL Instant Messenger. You can see when your friends or family are online and correspond with them by text. This is usually one on one interaction unless you join a chat room with multiple people. 4) Vitamin A, vitamin B-complex, vitamin E, and zinc are helpful for acne. Check with your doctor for the proper dosages. Too much can be dangerous. Some studies suggest that 135 mg. zinc is as effective as antibiotics (tetracycline) for treating acne.

5) Use an herbal treatment. Take tincture of myrrh, dilute it in a small bowl of water, and use a cotton ball or pad to wipe your face. Myrrh's antiseptic and astringent properties can both treat and prevent acne. Use daily. Another treatment involves steaming your face or putting a compress on it (for 10 minutes) with a special essential oil solution. To very hot water add 2 drops juniper oil, 2 drops bergamot oil and 2 drops lavender oil. Either cover head with a towel and steam face or place soaked cloth over face. Splash skin with cool water afterwards and apply a tiny bit of oil mixture.

6) Make a natural toner. You can use any natural toner without chemicals or perfume. Witch hazel mixed with equal parts of strong chamomile tea is excellent. Weight Loss Surgery (WLS) is often viewed as a quick fix for morbid obesity. One day a person is fat, the next they are not. While it may appear to onlookers that a gastric bypass patient is losing the weight without personal struggle or effort, this really isn't true. WLS patients must follow four rules for success and they experience four phases of growth following surgery.

The four rules for successful weight loss and long-term weight maintenance are: Eat protein first; No snacking, Drink lots of water and Exercise daily. Adherence to these rules moves the patient smoothly through the four stages of bariatric growth which I define as: Conception, Infancy, Adolescence and Maturity.

Conception begins when patients consider surgery as a treatment for morbid obesity. It could be prompted by a life threatening illness such as heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure or high blood cholesterol, asthma, heartburn or sleep apnea. Or perhaps lifestyle prompts it - a person may lack the energy to play with their children or pursue the activities they love. Maybe self-esteem is so low because of obesity that a drastic measure - surgery - is needed to restore a sense of self-worth.

Conception is followed by birth, an event left entirely to a carefully selected surgeon and staff of healthcare professionals. The surgeon partitions off most of the stomach creating a pocket or pouch that will hold one ounce of food.

In most gastric bypass surgeries the digestive system is re-routed to bypass the intestine and shortcut to the bowel. This prevents too many calories from being absorbed and stored by the body in the form of fat. The patient wakes from the surgery a bariatric infant.

Infancy On the second day of my WLS infancy my surgeon stood at my hospital bedside and showed me a cup, the size in which sacramental communion is offered and he said "This is the size of your stomach now."

Just like bringing a newborn home from the hospital the bariatric patient brings home a tiny newborn tummy that has all kinds of requirements and restrictions. This new tiny tummy is completely foreign to the behaviors and habits that caused obesity. There is not one single thing an obese person has done in the past that they can continue doing. Patients who strictly follow the four rules quickly become acquainted with their new tiny tummy. This is the time of rapid weight loss. For the first time most morbidly obese patients are consistently losing lots of weight, something they have never experienced before. Infancy for most bariatric patients lasts from nine to 18 months.

Similar to parents of a firstborn child who focus completely on their new baby, during bariatric infancy patients completely focus on their new tiny tummy. Then one day, without fanfare, they wake up and rediscover themselves. They enter adolescence.

Adolescence Adolescence is the stage when patients test the system. Many patients don't dump, vomit, snack or eat the forbidden foods until they reach adolescence. But once they approach or reach target weight a mental bad boy shows up in a shiny black corvette saying take a ride on the wild side. So a patient jumps in the bad boy's fast ride and speeds down a dangerous road. They break the rules! Perhaps they eat sugar which results in a blood sugar imbalance called "dumping" or they may stuff themselves with starchy carbs causing vomiting. In the worst case, a patient returns to snacking, a little treat of hard candy here and a handful of popcorn there. Mark my words, nothing stops-short weight loss or maintenance more quickly than a little bit of rule breaking. But like any teenager, we all have to learn it on our own.

The good news: the duration of adolescence is up to the patient! A patient only hurts themselves when they break the rules. Successful WLS patients commit to themselves early to be in control of their own gastric bypass growth cycle. However, some WLS patients get stuck in adolescence. I've heard many say, "Oh, I can eat anything I want, just not much of it." Don't believe it for a minute. They aren't saying how often they vomit, or dump or how they never quite achieved their weight loss goal. Weight loss patients who eat anything they want are abusing their tool and stuck in perpetual adolescence.

Maturity At maturity a patient understands the gastric bypass system and is living the life they dreamed. They have achieved desired weight loss and are maintaining a healthy weight. A diligent patient can enjoy this phase for the rest of their life.

I believe WLS maturity is reached when patients understand one word: respect. Respect for the tiny tummy, respect for the science of the body, and respect for oneself. Sure, we all experience an occasional lapse of judgment; that old lover of ours - food - is flaunting temptations every single day. But the gastric bypass patient is a brave and powerful person.

Successful patients build on infant and teenage experiences and become an adult embracing all the good things gastric bypass has facilitated. The battle against obesity isn't easy; patients will fight old habits for the rest of their life. Gastric bypass is a tool, a weapon in the battle against obesity, but it is the patient who wins the war.

"On the subject of Barabudur, the famous temple on the island of Java and the most beautiful monument in Asia, whole libraries have been written. Purely technical explanations have been attempted taking account only of the laws of architecture; endless controversies have been joined over the religious and magical meanings hidden in that colossal monument. Dutch Orientalists and architects have published over the past fifteen years books of great value on Barabudur. The names of Krom, Van Erp, and Stutterheim must be mentioned. The last of these, in a work of 1927, laid the foundation for a true interpretation of the temple: 'Barabudur is nothing less than a symbolic representation of the Universe'. From this intuition Paul Mus's investigations start. The beginning of his book consists of a history of the controversy, an exposition of the principle hypotheses, and a critique of methods. Examined in turn are theories of the most illustrious India specialists, art historians and architects. Then Mus undertakes to discuss the problem. It must be remembered that this gigantic volume is preceded by an 'avant-propos' of 302 pages in which the author establishes the validity of his methodology. In order to justify the symbolic function of the Javanese temple, Mus emphasizes a truth often remarked by Orientalists: that if the Buddha was not represented iconographically for several centuries, it was not due to incapability on the part of Indian artists, but to the fact that a type of representation superior to images was essayed. 'That would not have been a defeat of plastic art, but rather the triumph of a magical art.' When an iconography of the Buddha was adopted, the symbolism was poor by comparison. The 'aniconic symbol' of Enlightenment (the wheel, etc.) was much more powerful, more 'pure', than the statue. Ananda Coomaraswamy also has published evidence for this thesis in his 'Elements of Buddhist Iconography'. (12) The conclusion to be drawn from this is that Buddhists, as well as Hindus (and Asians in general) {As well as the Sauk Indians we showed are from the area of the Great Wall and were Buddhists before the loss of magic represented by the change to graven images or iconography.} before Buddhism, used symbolism more effectively, precisely because the symbol was more comprehensive and 'Active' in the magical sense than plastic representation. If the Buddha was considered to be a god (as he was, in fact, immediately after his demise), then his magical 'presence' was preserved in anything emanating from him." (13)

A human statue or even a Gothic building representing the Temple of Solomon such as the Templars built into European cathedrals, does not convey the same representation of the 'Universe' or cosmos that runs through the veins of all living things. I honour all myths that assist the 'oneness' in respect of the creative or intelligent design that so many insist is GOD. "Let us return, finally, to the burial mounds of Ontario. These appear to be related in some complex fashion to the neolithic revolution. The nature of the ceremonies themselves cannot be determined at present, although we are offered a few tantalizing clues as to the subject matter around which they revolved. Most of the available data are derived, of course, from the burials found within the mounds and in submound pits.

In Northwestern Ontario, {Site of the Nipissing magi and Mediwiwin group who are influenced by Masons of the Christian Mystery School Complex or Rosicrucian Dragons.} the skulls that have openings in their occipital regions are reasonably clear evidence of power transfer. The individuals whose skulls were opened would have had some unusual and highly valued personal characteristics; the occipital openings made it possible to remove their brains and to transfer those characteristics from the dead to the living. This would have been accomplished through a religious ceremony that included eating the brain that was the seat of such wondrous powers. {I detail this in many books - and the modern Thalami research that is showing merit to the Cosmic Thought Field.} The eating, of course, could have been either actual or symbolic. {The Communion and Eucharist is derived from the earlier rituals of this sort. Only the most powerful elites get to eat the thalami for the much needed melatonin, iridium and rhodium.} In either event, the highly valued qualities would not be lost to the band through death but would be preserved through reincarnation. {The living cells as close to still living as possible are most needed and some of the old seers would end their lives during this ritual as they would have known throughout their life - it would happen.}

Such practices were probably much more widespread that the archaeological evidence would suggest at first glance; for we know that highly valued characteristics are often located in organs other than the brain. {Thus the Biblical &Devoted Ones' shown in Cahill's Gifts of the Jews were harvested for hearts too - as in the Aztec rituals and Moshe who also became impacted by these Dragons like the Prince of Palenque.} Our own western European culture, for example, locates many of its most highly prized characteristics in the heart. The point is that power transfer was probably much more widespread than current data suggest, simply because the removal of most organs for this purpose would have left no skeletal evidence...

One of the major ritual acts of the people, however, was the building of the mounds themselves. For it is almost certainly an error to look upon mound-building primarily in terms of engineering. {Especially the lesser and more mundane imitations of the period he is focused upon.} We must see it, rather, as a by-product of sociological processes; that is, we should look upon mound-building as we look upon the performance of a ballet or drama in our own society. Theatres may arise as a result of our interest in such cultural pursuits but the significance of a ballet or drama resides, surely, in the performance itself. The play's the thing! Once the mound was built, of course, it would have served, as it does a theatre, as a backdrop for other rituals. For once again, it is through such rituals and ceremonies that human groups are bound together and that individual lives are shaped to ancestral patterns.

The masked and painted skulls from Hungry Hall were part of one such ritual. And when it was over, the skulls, like the props of a drama that had run its course, were tossed rather carelessly into the corner of a grave." (14)

Back to the era of the Hawaiian monarchy, the origin of Hawaiian heirloom jewelry can be found. The Hawaiian kingdom had long enjoyed a favorable relationship with England.

In February 1862, Prince Albert, husband to England's Queen Victoria, was dead. During the queen's time of grief, only mourning clothes and black-accented jewelry were acceptable apparel at the royal court. Meanwhile, jewelry accented with black jet or enamel and carved with floral, vine or scroll designs became the fashion trend in England. These pieces came in the forms of rings, broaches, pendants and bracelets.

Reacting to Prince Albert's death, a 23-year-old Hawaiian princess named Liliu Loloku Walania Kamakaeha (Hawaii's last Queen Liliuokalani) ordered two gold that precisely followed the style and detail of the black-enameled English mourning jewelry.

In 1887, Hawaii's Queen Kapiolani and Princess Liliu were invited to Queen Victoria's Jubilee. At the Jubilee, Queen Victoria bestowed them precious gold bracelets with each name of theirs imprinted in Old English Lettering filled with black enamel (here's an example of hawaiian jewelry). They adored the gift so that they had similar bracelets made for Hawaiian Royal members upon their return to Hawaii. Hawaiian Royal had adopted this sophisticated and hand-carved technique and developed it into its unique design inspired by Hawaiian nature. This Hawaiian royal heritage has been succeeded and lived on as Today's Hawaiian Jewelry.

Most people have some aspects of themselves that they would like to change. But how often do you dig deeply to find the root of the problem?

You have to address the issues that need to be changed. Without doing this you will be stuck in a cycle of trying to change but you won't make much progress. Denying that there is something holding you back doesn't make it disappear or magically turn you into who you want to be.

You can't change what you don't accept. So if you have problems accepting what you need to change, you're going to have more problems making that change.

If you want more money in your life and are having problems achieving that you need to dig deeper to find something you may have missed about yourself. Do you have any long held beliefs about money that would prevent you from attracting what you say you want in your life?

Until those beliefs are addressed and accepted you won't be able to attract the extra money into your life. Our thoughts, feelings and beliefs are what shape our reality.

If you think you want more money in your life but your beliefs about money don't match what you're thinking and feeling it's going to be difficult to attract it into your life.

There may be times when money will show up for you but you won't have the steady flow that you want to achieve. Not until you accept that you have limiting beliefs about money and then change them.

You say you want to find your soul mate, your other half. But the people who keep showing up in your life lately don't fit the bill. You're starting to wonder if you will ever meet Mr. or Ms. Right. He or she is out there somewhere but do you have any beliefs about yourself that might be holding you back from attracting that perfect mate?

Again, you need to dig deep and search for any limiting beliefs or fears you might have about yourself and/or relationships. Until then know that the perfect relationship will come at the perfect time.

Remember that the answer always lies within. Resisting and denying aspects of yourself won't get you to where you want to be in life. Only by digging out beliefs that don't serve you well and accepting them as no longer being useful to you can you make a change in a positive direction.

BJ like so many others in the workshop was astounded that a technique so simple could produce such an amazing result. You must try it. Next time your partner flares up in anger do this. In a very non-threatening calm and sincere tone of voice say...

"You're really mad right now?" or "Something I did made you angry?"

And watch the energy change. The anger dissipates almost like magic. A sense of relief replaces the intense emotion.

Most every time acknowledging anger in a compassionate manner diffuses the emotion and a rational conversation can continue. It works for life and business partners, for parents of teenagers, employers and staff, and even customer service representatives fielding calls from enraged consumers.

A word of caution, this technique is not to be used with the violent abuser, the rage-aholic, or a person under the influence of a mood altering substance. With this population this approach may well back fire and heighten the negative emotion instead of diffuse it. However, it works fantastically 99% of the time with those of us average folk who get frustrated and mad due to life's common stresses.

Wait a minute though, we're not done yet, there are two important keys to this &magic' that you must remember:

Your tone of voice and attitude must be non-threatening
You must verbally identify the anger without sarcasm or belittling words

Yes, all it takes is applying these two steps correctly and you'll diffuse anger every time. To assure your success let's take a closer look at both.

Tone of Voice: This is so critical. If you come across the least bit hurt, angry yourself, or sarcastic you dispel the magic. Your partner, friend, child or colleague will get defensive and the anger will not dissipate. Your tone must be calm, totally sincere, warm and kind. For it to be that way you have to feel that way. Not necessarily easy if you are experiencing elevated emotions yourself. Therefore this tactic generally works best right at the onset of a possible argument and not when one is already raging.

So, the key here is act quickly, focus on remaining calm and genuinely feel for the other person.

Verbally identify the Anger: Formulating the right words is not as crucial as coming across sincere and kindly. It is important that you verbally state the perceived emotion, in this case anger. You may choose to label it &frustration' or say &annoyed' instead of &anger' which ever you feel fits best. The important thing is to identify it in a questioning manner. Yes, it must be a question and not a statement of fact. You must allow the other person to confirm your assumption. If you express your comment as a fact your partner, friend, child or colleague is liable to stay anger and put up more barriers instead of allowing them to crumble.

Key here is to pose a brief question regarding the anger you perceive in such a manner that the other responds in the affirmative.

"Yes I am" is accompanied or immediately followed by a sense of release and a rational conversation is once again possible.

Where to go from here, well, that's for another discussion, for now just remember to stay calm and focused on the issue at hand and you'll do fine.

It is unfortunate that the Catholic Church seems to continue their abuse and molestation of our youth and children. Yet it is not all that surprising, since they are sworn to celibacy and there are known and documented physiological needs of man. Raging hormones in our youth and desire throughout our lives is a given of the human species. Asking someone to be celibate is problematic and makes sense that it would come with some baggage. For centuries the Catholic Church has raped, molested and had homosexual sex with orphans, alter boys and children of parishioners. Many nuns suddenly became pregnant certainly this was not believed to be divine intervention.

The biggest hypocrisy of all religion is that of the Priesthood, Cardinalship and staff of the Catholic Church at all levels. Today the Catholic Church has a chance to start with a new fresh face and fresh image, yet already they have called themselves into question by their appointment. This time, Benedict XVI: the Nazi Pope and former team member of the "Hitler Youth" has taken the stage. We are not to prejudge him, for he did not sign up willingly but rather by all accounts and Vatican Public Relations joined the Hitler Youth because it was &compulsory'. Not because he was a Jew hater.

Where as this is actually possible; how can we believe the Catholic Church now? How can we be sure that this is not another fabrication of the truth? Why couldn't he simply say; "It is not in the best interest of the church, for me to be Pope," after all it would be the right thing to do? Unfortunately what this appointment does is that it gives conspiracy theorists more to chew on. For instance; What is wrong with all the other Cardinals that the Catholic Church had to settle for a former NAZI? Were the other Cardinals blemished by past actions with parishioners children? Were all the other cardinals guilty of molestation, homosexuality and pedophilia? Is there not one decent man amongst the whole lot? This raises more questions?

Are there any Catholic Priests, Cardinals or Bishops with pure thoughts, teaching love and joy to help us through our life experience? Can you name one? Are you sure? The parishioners of all those Priests throughout the United States were sure that their Priest couldn't possibly do those things. Yet we find thousands upon thousands of cases of molestation. The more we look the more we find. Historical record and diaries show the same thing over two thousand years of such hypocrisy. Is anything ever going to change? Is it really? Is this Pope going to be any different; you really think so?

Would you drop your kids off at a Day Care Center with even one or two allegations or even simple accusations of molestation or pedophilia? Would you drop your kids off at &Never Neverland Ranch' for the weekend knowing what you know now? Well would you? Think about it.

Calling a projector hire company will often get you confused as they ask:

What lumens do you need? (Lumens is the brightness of the projector)
What resolution do you need? (Resolution is the number of pixels at which the display device does not have to expand or compress the input signal)
What type: install, desktop or portable? (Install projectors tend to be larger and heavier, desktop ones are small and light and portable are somewhere in between!)

What you should ask yourself are the following simple questions:

How many people will need to see the projected image?
A 1000 lumens projector will usually be sufficient for a smaller meeting - up to 20 people. 2000 lumens is better. A brighter projector will be needed for brighter rooms, bigger screens and larger audiences - some projectors go up to over 10,000 lumens but you shouldn't need these for a simple presentation!
What will you be showing on the projector?
Both data (from a computer) and video can be used to input into the majority of projectors. Most computers are XGA resolution (1024x768 pixels), but some older models may be VGA. This is not a problem for SVGA projectors, which will generally automatically lower the resolution, however if you are projecting high resolution photos and want near photographic detail, then it will have to be an XGA. a DVD or video, then there is little advantage in using the higher resolution XGA since SVGA can already project an image consisting of over 800 lines which is more than the resolution of a video signal.
How big is the room - do you need a PA system?
Most projectors come with a small speaker that's useless for anything practical. There's nothing worse than being unable to make yourself heard! If you've got sound with your presentation or video, make sure you hire a separate PA system to let people hear it.

Marketing is one of the fastest growing yet most misunderstood methods of moving products in use today. It has been termed by many as the Wave-of-the Eighties.

But, it will go far beyond that. By the 90's more than 100 billion dollars woth of products and services has been moved through Multilevel Marketing companies. As we are in the 21st century watch out !

What is MLM ?

This question is quite frequently in response to a button we often wear or we have seen wearing by others.

Let's explain it.

1. Marketing simply means moving a product or service from the manufacturer or provider to the consumer.

2. Multilevel refers to the system of compensation provided to the persons who are causing the product to move or the service to be provided.

"Multi" means more than one.

"Level" means generation.

There are really 5 basic methods of moving products:

1. Retailing.
ex. the drug store, the department store,... You go into a store and buy something.

2. Direct Sales.
ex. Tupperware, Avon, .....

3. Multilevel Marketing.
This should not be confused with retailing and Direct Sales which commonly is.

4. Mail Order.
This can be an MLM but mostly is included in the Direct Sales category.

5. Pyramid Sales.
This type of Sales is to often confused with MLM.

The fact is, Pyramides are illegal. The main reasons they may be illegal is their failure to move a product or to provide a valid service.

If a product doesn't move, how can you even call it "marketing", let alone "Multilevel Marketing". Multilevel it may be, but Marketing they are not!

Now, most objections that people have about getting into Multilevel Marketing are due to not realising the difference between MLM, Pyramid Sales and the Direct Sales methods of marketing.

This is understandeble because most reputable MLM companies belong to the Direct Selling Association.

We have been conditioned to think of MLM as door to door direct sales programs because our first encounter with them was when a distributor knocked on our door to sell us something.

Anyway, there are some features that differentiate MLM from Retail and Direct Sales companies and on very significant difference is that in MLM you are in business for YOURSELF but not BY YOURSELF.

Being in business for yourself means you are buying the products WHOLESALE from the company you are representing. This means also that you can use these products for your own consumption at WHOLESALE PRICES.

Since we are buying products WHOLESALE we can, if we wish, sell these products at RETAIL and make a PROFIT.

The most common misunderstanding about MLM is the notion that you HAVE TO sell retail to be successful.

You may sell if you want to or have to due to your particulare program procedure, but in regard to making the larger sums of income, the real success is in building the organisation.

Let your sales come as the natural result of building the organization.

The word "selling" triggers negative thoughts in the minds of about 95 % of the people.

In MLM you don't need to "sell" the products in the traditional sense of the word.

However, the PRODUCT DOES HAVE TO MOVE or NOBODY GETS PAID.

When you build an organization, you are actually building a network through which to channel your producths or services.

Retailing is the foundation of Network Marketing. Sales in MLM or Network Marketing come from distributors SHARING with their friends, neighbours and relatives. They never have to talk to strangers. Network Marketing or MLM is building an organization in which a lot of distributors all retail a little.

So, you see, its not going door to door every day calling on strangers.

Another point that differentiates MLM from Direct Sales is the SPONSORING of other distributors. This is called RECRUITING.

When you SPONSOR someone, you are making a COMITMENT to TEACH them how to do what you are doing, building a BUSINESS OF THEIR OWN. Sponsoring is what makes a Multilevel Marketing business so different an makes it grow.

As your organization grows, you are building toward becoming an INDEPENDANT SUCCESFULL BUSINESS PERSON. You are your OWN BOSS.

With Direct Selling companies you work for the company. If you decide to quit that company and move to another area, you end up having to start all over again.

In almost all of the MLM Programs you can move to another area of the country and sponsor people without losing the volume generated by the group you left behind.

In MLM Programs you can make a lot of money by building an organization as your primary function.

A Multilevel Marketing Organization is not a pyramid scheme.

The pyramid is built from the top down and only those in at the very beginning can ever be near the top. And the pirce of the products or services get every step higher and higher, leaving the people at the bottom broke.

In the MLM Marketing everybody starts at the bottom and has the opportunity to build a large organisation, even larger than his sponsor's organizationif he wants.

When it comes to debt consolidation some people dream of day when all their bills will disappear. Next to hitting the jackpot, a debt consolidation loan is some times the only way out for a debtor. No more playing "pick the bill out of the hat" to see who gets paid, all you have is one affordable check to write each month and pretty soon the balances quickly disappear. WAKE UP! Come back to reality, it isn't quite that easy, however if you do it right it works pretty well.

Different Ways to Consolidate

People ask me "What's the best way to consolidate debt?" and of course "What's the catch?" Well, it just really depends on the situation. There are all sorts of ways to do it and some folks get really creative too. I'll tell you about some of the more popular ones and the pros and cons you get with them.

Just remember because it looks good doesn't mean it is. The advertisers now a days are pretty good about disguising those higher interest loans with payments that go on forever because all you see is the lower payment. So try and ignore that sweet pitch for a lower payment if it means you just dug yourself a bigger hole and put yourself deeper in debt.

First things first. Let do a little wake up call. If you are just barely trending water because you are in to much debt, just realize that not all these options will work for you. And some times, no of them will. If that's you, keep your head up high and don't drown. Many people can really cut their debt without ever consolidating.

And don't forget, if you do decide to get a debt consolidation loan, don't think the fairy god mother is going to make thing all better. After all, once you do a debt consolidation you will still have to make a payment until that loan is paid off.

Home Equity Loans

If you have been paying on your home for a couple of years, put a pretty big down payment when you got it and are lucky enough to be in one of those areas of the country where the home values shot through the roof, you may be sitting on little piece of freedom in the form of equity in your home. To get to this little nest egg you either have to sell your home or borrow money against it. And so enters the home equity loan. Another little thought...If you still owe a considerable amount on your home, IGNORE the ads for home equity loans for more than the value of your home. Not only are they very expensive but also very dangerous. And if you are still considering one of those loans Contact Me and I'll be more than happy to give you a hundred thousand reasons not to.

If you want to be a stickler about it there are actually two different types of home equity loans. The first, which is my favorite, is the home equity line of credit (HELOC), it uses the equity in you home like a credit card. You can use a little as you want or up to your limit, and once you pay it down enough you can keep on doing it. It's very useful when done correctly because most of them have some sort of interest only option which will give you greater flexibility. Hence, that's why it's my favorite. And the other type is a fixed amount, rate and term. Your payment stays the same all the time. Just to make this simple when I talk about a home equity loan it will refer to both of these types.

Many people use home equity loans for debt consolidation. They will often get a pretty good interest rate, and since you can deduct interest payments on their taxes, making the "real" cost even lower. But, of course there is a down side, you must use your home as collateral. Which is just a fancy term to say if you miss your payment I can take your house. And There goes the roof over your head...Literally!

Consider a Home Equity Loan for Debt Consolidation if:

You won't be leveraging your home so much that you are borrowing pretty close to, or more than, the current market value of your home.

You can pay it back in 5 years or less

You are in debt because of unusual circumstances, like an unexpected accident or hospital bill, but for the most part you have excellent money management skills.

DON'T use a home equity loan for debt consolidation if:

You are going to have to borrow 100%-125% of your home's value. Interest rates are high on these types of loans not to mention you will be stuck in your house and won't be able to move for any reason for a very, very long time.

Your marriage is on the rocks. Separation and divorce may not make it possible for you to remain living there. Especially if you have a court order to move. Not to mention you would loss a great deal of money if you had to short sell it (You would still have to pay off the mortgage before you can sell it)

Now if you think that you are in debt because you just don't make enough money...well, I am surprised you made it this far. With that type of thinking as soon as you pay off your credit cards you will just find another excuse to charge them again, then your home will really be at risk.

Credit Cards

Consolidating your debt on a credit card comes off as a pretty bad idea; however it can actually be a great resource if done correctly. Credit cards sometimes offer some of the lowest interest rates around and they are easier to acquire than most debt consolidation loans, but the best part is that they don't require collateral like your home equity line does. That is an important thing if a bad situation pops up and catches you unprepared. You can either call your current card company and find out what their interest rates will be on a balance transfer to their card, or if you are like me you get tons of offers in the mail for companies offering to consolidate your debt onto a credit card you can choose the best one. A big warning here...READ THE FINE PRINT! Make sure if you transfer the balance it will help you not hurt you. I give more tips on how to handle this in my FREE newsletter so make sure you sign up.

Consider using a credit card for debt consolidation if:

You can get a lower interest rate; make sure it is a fixed rate and not just a low intro rate, that's how they get you. Please Read The Fine Print.

You never pay the minimum payment, and they tease you with a really low one, and you pay as much as your budget will allow each month to get rid of the debt quickly, after all that's what this is for.

You close out the accounts that you are paying off so that you don't go on a shopping spree. A word of caution if you close too many account it will hurt your credit score.

Don't use a Credit card for debt consolidation if:

You can only get an interest rate that is higher than what you have because you have bad, dinged, or a bruised credit history.

You are just so addicted to your credit card that you can't bear the thought of getting rid of one or more of them.

You lack consistency in paying your bills on time. All those late fees start to add up pretty quick at $25-$30 a pop, and then you pay 18%-30% interest on the late fees...what a racket! Don't get caught in this little trap.

Retirement Loans

I'm not going to give a lot of detail on this one because I think it is a bad idea and only should be used to save you from bankruptcy. There are too many big negatives other wise to consider this option for debt consolidation. You loss your tax benefits and may have to pay a penalty if this don't go smoothly for you. Not to mention the big kicker that if you are borrowing money from yourself that means your money is not working for you but against you. Not only that if you lose your job or quit you most likely have to pay off the loan immediately. After you learn a few things about investing you will see quite clearly how this is not such a great option even though it's the easiest to get.

Debt Consolidation Loans

Even though they may seem to be the best choice or even the most logical, it still may not be your best bet. A debt consolidation loan is an unsecured personal loan, and they can be difficult to get if you already have a lot of debt. The bank doesn't like to give you a loan if you monthly payment on your debt not counting your mortgage is more than 15%-25%, depending on your credit, of your gross monthly income (before taxes). The bank feels like you are just going to go and charge back up your balances, which happens all too often. Because of those big negatives the going interest rate on these types of loans are about 15% or more. These are definitely not the best interest rates compared to the other items we discussed so far. However, if you can get a debt consolidation loan with an interest rate better than what you have right now it may be beneficial for you to get one.

Consider a Debt Consolidation Loan if:

You are willing to close your credit card accounts so you don't end up in the same trap everyone else does and dig a deeper hole of debt.

The interest rate you will be paying is lower than what you are paying right now on any debts that you would consolidate. Make sure the term is not more than 5 years or you could be falling into a different trap altogether and end up paying way to much interest for the term of the loan.

Don't use a Debt Consolidation Loan if:

the most obvious reason is if the interest rate is way too high.

The term of the loan has been extended to 10 or 15 years. It will show you a really cheap payment but wait until you add up all the money you will be paying back you won't consider it a good deal then.

Counseling Agencies

As the ads on late night TV and cable claim to be able to consolidate your debt i.e. "bills", into one small monthly payment "no matter what your credit history". Every once in a while you these ads are for a home equity loan, but more recently they have leaned to more often promoting credit counseling agencies.

Counseling agencies go to the lender and negotiate a lower interest and/or fee. After that you end up making one monthly payment to the counseling agency, Which then pays your creditors. Their fee is lumped into the monthly payment. A lot of times you could have done much better of for yourself if you would have dealt with the creditors personally. This is not really a debt consolidation loan since you don't really refinance anything, it more like debt restructuring. If you can stick with the program you can be out of debt in 3-5 years.

The biggest fear people have when dealing with the counseling agencies is that the agencies will ruin their credit. Quite honestly if you are already behind on your bills and haven't been able to put a dent in them, a counseling agency debt consolidation program is not going to make your credit much worse than it already is. It will make your score drop a bit, but when you look at the benefit of being debt free a few years down the line it's a lot better alternative to declaring bankruptcy.

Consider debt consolidation with a counseling agency if:

You are falling way behind on your bills and there is not another alternative. These kinds of counseling programs are for people who are having problems paying their bills on time, not for people who want a lower interest rate.

Most of your debt is not a secured loan. In other words a car loan, home loan, or a student loan. Since there is collateral involved the counseling agency has a harder time renegotiating the terms.

Don't do debt consolidation with a counseling agency if:

You know yourself better than anyone else if you can't stick to a little program for a week or a few months by all means don't try and do this program that is going to take a few years to complete.

You haven't done you due diligence and thoroughly checked out the company. Since they are acting as a mediator and you are paying them they can screw things up really quickly and you will still be held responsible (it really does happen check out the news release section) Make sure you choose an agency that will give you the support you need for the long haul...3-5 years.

Protect Yourself

Be wary of credit counseling organizations that:

-charge high up-front or monthly fees for enrolling in credit counseling or a Debt Management Plan.

-pressure you to make "voluntary contributions," another name for fees.

-won't send you free information about the services they provide without requiring you to provide personal financial information, such as credit card account numbers, and balances. -try to enroll you in a Debt Managment Program without spending time reviewing your financial situation.

-offer to enroll you in a Debt Managment Program without teaching you budgeting and money management skills. -demand that you make payments into a Debt Managment Program before your creditors have accepted you into the program.

Creative Alternatives to Debt Consolidation

Now it's time to start to use that space between your ears, your brain. Just because none of these options work for you doesn't mean that you should give up! You have made it this far.

Borrow against the cash value of your life insurance policy. If you've built up a cash value in your policy, you should be able to tap it at a low rate. Best of all, it doesn't have to be repaid. The downside is that your loan will decrease your death benefit, so make sure you have enough coverage to protect your heirs. (You may want to buy a supplemental term policy.)

Make it easy for yourself call all your credit card companies and get them to change the due dates that are more convenient for you so they fall all on the same day right around payday. This way you sit down once or twice a month to do your bills instead of 10 different days.

Think of Debt Consolidation as one of the many tools in you arsenal to get yourself debt free.

This is the point where I go in for the first kiss with the girl.

Don't think that you need special places or monuments to go on adventure dates. You can even do them indoors:

When the weather doesn't allow going outside, I bring my girls to the local shopping center. We sit to a cafe and talk a bit. Then I stand up and invite them for a walk around. We visit a few shops while shopping some clothes for me. Then we play bowling or go to the local bookstore. It's funny to laugh at the various love and sex advice books together with the girl.

The above are just examples, it's easy to come up with your own ideas. All you need is a little bit of fantasy and to know your city a little. Check out a local city guide paper for some examples or ask a friend who knows.

who have been plagued by the memories of past events to permanently release the disruptive energy imprints of such memories from their energy bio-fields.

A special and interesting case of such release pertains to situations where an individual has within them a construct that is referred to as an "inner child" that is still in need of nurturing or healing. In the language of psychotherapy such a construct is often called a "sub personality" or an "ego state".

These ego states seem to have the tendency to dominate what is called the main personality of that person from time to time thereby causing them to feel, think, and behave as if they were that ego state. In other words it's like becoming overtaken by something within ones' self that causes them to revert into being a child or a younger persona.

Such a reversion occurs whenever something in day to day experience triggers the child ego state to have its needs met right then and there. The trigger is usually an event that is in someway perceived to be similar to events that the child ego state experienced as traumatic or unurturing in some way. The re-emergence of the ego state at such times is felt to be due to the need to repair the defect.

Now in everyday life this is generally not a welcomed occurrence because it often leaves the person feeling unable to cope with their current experience as they find themselves feeling, thinking and behaving in a manner that is less than adaptive.

Many forms of psychotherapy aim to spend years trying to "re-parent" the child ego states so that they can "grow up" and become integrated into the adult as adults.

While working with a process called the Mind Resonance Process(TM)(MRP) with such individuals it has been my experience that such re-parenting is in fact not only not necessary but also actually perpetuates an untruth about who and what these ego states represent. That is the belief that they represent some part of that individual that is in some way either immature, traumatized or defective.

When addressing ego states with MRP I generally look at the reasons why an individual "chooses" to identify themselves in any way what so ever with such ego states. After doing so each individual recognizes that such identification is based on untruths about the benefits of being so identified.

An example of this is as follows:

I identify myself with a helpless and hurting child ego state because,

It allows me to get help from others so that,

I will feel better, more secure, more at peace, loved and safe.

In other words the hidden belief is that:

(A) The ego state is necessary to help the individual feel secure, at peace, loved and safe.

The experience of reverting to the child ego state however feels completely different than statement (A) suggests. That is because, by definition, the ego state represents a state filled with feelings of hurt, fears of abandonment, insecurities, anxiety, feelings of being unloved and at times fears of not surviving.

So when an individual recognizes that statement (A) clearly goes counter to their experience of being in the ego state they notice how, unconsciously they have been lying to themselves about the usefulness of having any identification with the ego state.

It is at this point that a remarkable thing happens. The ego state and the disruptive energy that it represents become spontaneously and permanently "dislodged" from the energy field of the person and floats off into deep space.

The person feels a sense of relief, a sense of greater inner strength, more like the adult that they know they have always been in their heart, more at peace, lighter, more joyful and they also appear to reclaim a significant sense of energy in their bodies.

After the release takes place, in all cases, upon reflection, the individual notes that the child ego state "was never inside of them". In other words that whatever memories of whatever supposed events that took place that supposedly were responsible for the existence of the ego state never happened!

What does such a result suggest? I will discuss this in a follow-up article entitled' "Our Virtual Reality Reality".

Advanced Power Selling: Power Tools for Serious eBay sellers

Societies have always had a problem of what to do with their young males with high testosterone. In many countries it is important for them to kill off many of them. In times of war it is advantageous to kill off those who may eventually challenge the dictator. Kings of tribes in Africa realized that they too could get rid of their strong males in order to stay in power by selling them as slaves. Yet in doing so the tribes become weak and have issues with the genes of strength and then are easily beaten by other tribes contriving a war against them to help eliminate some of their strongest or reward them with the spoils of war. Such elimination of all the strong can cause a premature collapse of the civilization from a competing nation and too many can cause civil unrest and destroy the empire from within.

This is not a new concept, it has been known throughout the written history of mankind. It is discussed in the Prince and is still practiced in many areas. When we fight wars, many times we are fighting an enemy whose leadership actually wants to inflict massive casualties on us, but wants us to eventually kill their military leaders who might eventually take power from the current leadership. It is for this reason sometimes world leaders plan wars against one another to protect their power base, spend money with their industrial military complexes and borrow money from the worlds money sources.

If those underlings who have ambition to be the next dictator ever get the chance they may try to over through the current regime, having them go on an impossible journey or impossible battle, allows the soldier to go out with a bang and all the rewards and respect of the nation in death, while still allowing the leadership to remain and tell of their heroism. In our society we often do similar things; in Corporations we step on them climbing the ladder of success, In politics we character assassinate them (although be careful because a man who has nothing to lose is the same as a cat backed into a corner), in sports we place blame on a lost game or trade that player to another team. In our military they may become the scapegoats or promoted into a position of nothingness but give them rank and medals.

These techniques work for mans desire to achieve, yet we often fight ourselves to no avail. This is a problem in our country and we lose traction and innovation and send mixed messages to those who can do the most good. In these other countries we fight we may think we have scored a victory in defeating a certain general, but really we have only created a stronger enemy since the leader has no opposing force from the inside to conquer him. So without taking out the main leadership in fact we have not helped democracy we have crushed it possibility. It is most important to cause chaos in any enemies system. I often do this in business when faced with an enemy who plays the Machiavellian way. Inner strife kills an enemy much faster than the advancing armies do, once you have crushed their will to fight it is all over for them anyway. As long as your opponent has the will to fight he is still a worthy adversary and a potential threat. In the case of Saddam, it is far better to leave him in a bad position just before killing him or helping his own former people kill him. We in that case were fighting a typical Machiavellian warrior who we had trained, he is a known quantity, and however the next leader of that country is not yet known. Saddam is now a known quantity and that quantity is now zero. Zero is a good quantity for an enemy; zero strength, zero life expectancy, zero money, zero power, zero control; zero is good.

You have heard the phrase LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION. But wait, this is online! You don't have to worry about location... or do you??!! Location is everything! Let's take a moment to really think about this. You need to find something. What do you do? Most people will go to their favorite search engine and input what they are searching for. They will type in a few words that describe what they are looking for. The Search Engines come back with the most relevant websites for your search. However, your search for a keyword can result in thousands of links (if not millions).

So now you begin the task of clicking one by one on these links to find the information or service you need. You may go through page one to find what you are searching for, you may go through all of page two, but did you get to the website on page 10? If you are shaking your head No (who has that kind of time?) then you have realized how important LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION is to your website. We need to get your site located on the first page.

The quick and easy answer to this problem is of course PPC (Pay Per Click Advertising such as Google Adwords or Overture). But this is not the smartest way to solve your problem and the cost can put my small business owners of out business. Everyone wants to be listed in the number 1 spot. But most companies do not get listed under any of their keywords because they do not know how to implement search engine optimization (SEO). SEO is really not as hard as it sounds and most will find that once they understand how it works, it is actually quite simple.

A few things to keep in mind when starting your SEO Journey:

1. Make sure you use HTML Links. Some designers want to use beautiful image map links from their home page. Although this looks great, it does not help you with the search engines. Place links on your pages to the various pages to help not only the search engines find your pages but your visitors as well.

2. Frames...Well this is a hard one. Not only can some people not see frames, the search engines have a hard time with them as well. Also, what if your customer stumbles into one of the pages and does not see the frames? Just stay away from them all together.

3. DO NOT SPAM. Let me repeat this again. DO NOT SPAM. Spamming in any form is wrong. Most people consider spam as only used with emails. Wrong again unfortunately. Spamming will backfire on you. If search engines pick up on the fact that you are spamming, they have and will penalize your site.

Here are two examples of spam. a. Content Spam Data within a part of a Web resource designed for humans where that data is designed only for search engines to see b. Meta Spam Data within a Web resource that describes that resource or another Web resource inaccurately or (when the data should be readable by humans) incoherently

Take your time when it comes to your websites SEO. Make small changes and watch your rankings. If you move up, great! Make more changes. If you move down, undo undo undo. Always keep records of the changes you make so you can easily track what worked and what did not work for your site. Remember, we are in this for the long haul. Do it right the first time and make it last.

An important part of lifetime planning is the Power of Attorney. Valid in all states, these documents give one or more persons the power to act on your behalf. The power may be limited to a particular activity (

All franchises must meet the legal definition of a franchise no matter what they call it before it is an actual franchise. This is the Federal Trade Commissions take on the franchise rule. So the Federal Trade Commission has a franchise rule to make it difficult for franchises to survive so other business models can do better? Yet it is now proven even with all this bogus over regulation franchising still wins as the most efficient model. I present these examples as so much of this report and those who commented are out to lunch.

Someone somewhere was afraid of how fast franchising was moving so we ended up with the franchise rule? That is not a sufficient reason to keep it. Especially with 105 complaints in a decade, 70% bogus meaning 26 complaints actual with over 350,000 outlets sold, show me another industry, which can show those types of figures? Well, show me, because I have been studying this and I can tell you none exists.

The Wal-Mart or Starbucks of the world have proven equally powerful and efficient to the franchise model, however much of their methods except for private ownership of units follows that of the methods of franchising. Now if we continue to limit franchising they will have no competition. The FTC claims to help competitive markets, yet it destroys competition rather than leveling the playing field; deny this.

The recent franchise report by the FTC and this discussion is pure unadulterated mental masturbation. Franchising is about win-win-win situations and solving problems in the marketplace, serving the needs of the economy, franchisor, franchisee, customer and even sometimes the shareholders. That is a good thing, if we argue over what is and what is not and try to define it one way or the other, we miss the point of why it even exists, it exists to extend brand name, save on capital outlay for rapid expansion and fill a niche in the market place where buyers and sellers come together of their own free will to partake using a unit of trade. Mr. Snow recently spoke about franchising and reiterated the President's message that "franchising means jobs!" How can you argue with that logic? Look at how many jobs are provided by franchising? Why would anyone want to over regulate the forward progress of all mankind and the value of the greatest business model ever created in the entire written history of our specie? WAKE UP!

You can make definitions all you want, you can redefine, re-write, argue, manipulate common words of the English language, but in the end all you do is limit the possibilities of the creative genius of those who seek and find niches to fill for the common good of all. Why are we doing this, can't we just reduce this burdensome regulation and let free will and free markets flourish? Why are we attacking small efficient businesses which turn to the franchise model for expansion? Meanwhile if you want to stop the Catholic Church from molesting children or Al Queda from hurting our country, be my guest, I hope you sue the crap out of them. Good luck. My question to everyone is what good is making definitions if it hurts commerce by sweeping in other businesses and industries into this never ending fold of over regulation and intense litigation? Let's use some common sense here please. "Enough Already!" Think on this.

In today's rapidly changing business environment it makes sense to consider all the options before paying for your business equipment - whether it's a photocopier, computer system, computer hardware or software, telephone system, security equipment, office furniture or anything else. Many business people will give great consideration to the actual purchase, getting quotes from different suppliers and considering different choices. When it comes to paying, however, they simply pay cash or use bank finance without fully exploring the available options.

Most businesses will think of leasing for cars, yet don't consider this option for equipment. Either managements don't realise that leasing companies will lease items with little or no second-hand value; or they don't know which way to turn to get expert help or advice. Again they don't realise that the leasing broker - a concept pioneered by Technology Leasing - came into being precisely to meet that need.

The leasing broker gives customers a single point of contact, providing access to many leasing companies (all with different lending criteria) and picking the lender best suited to the client's individual needs. For example, some leasing companies dislike computer equipment. Others will not lease to businesses with less that five year's trading to show. Some will lease on software on its own, though, while others will lease to brand-new start-ups. The broker must match the client to the leasing company, which means not only the one with the best rate, but also one which will finance the type of equipment and consider the client's credit rating on the merits of the case.

Using leasing allows a business valuable leverage. You pay for the equipment as you use and profit from it. There's and analogy with paying your staff; you wouldn't hand over three or five years' salary in one lump sum , so why pay for your equipment that way? Leasing enables businesses to get the equipment they need now. Those on limited budgets can acquire what they really want, rather than what the budget dictates. In the case of one firm of consulting engineers in Glasgow, leasing the equipment enabled them to upgrade their computer software and put them in a position to handle larger jobs at lower cost.

Leasing is also 100% tax-allowable. As the user you don't own the equipment - the finance company does. This arrangement allows the lease payments to be written off the profit and loss account rather than the balance sheet (where a depreciating item is a liability). The tax saving of up to 40% of the cost of the lease payments goes to the lessor. A large firm of solicitors in London was able with our assistance to lease �½40,000 of furniture, renovating the office and improving its professional image, while making the above 40% tax saving.

Another benefit is that you don't need to contact your bank when leasing, so there is no need to impress or persuade the bank manager. You need not meet the broker, either. We arrange leases all over the UK for all kinds of different businesses and organisations, with equipment values from �½1000 to �½500,000 - in most cases without ever meeting anyone from the client. Everything can be done by e-mail, telephone and post, with the cheque going direct to the suppliers of the equipment.

Why increase your exposure to the bank when there is an alternative? The image of the friendly bank manager belongs to the past. Today the old gibe applies too often - that banks are happy to lend you the umbrella when the sun is shining, only to snatch it back at the first sign of rain. They will quote variable rates at so much over base (all the leasing we arrange is at fixed rates) and hide their profit by charging large &arrangement fees'. Most bank overdrafts are repayable on demand at a time to suit the bank - hence cases of loans being called in, without the borrower's prior knowledge, after a large cheque has been paid in.

If you have a cash pile and want to pay for your equipment from that hoard, always consider one thing before parting with the money. Is there a better use for the cash than being tied up in rapidly depreciating equipment? Remember that, if you do use cash to pay for such equipment, you can't later, in case of cash need, refinance and get the money back. It may well make more sense to invest the cash in marketing or staff training - or purchasing inventory at discounted rates. Simply holding the cash in case of unforeseen circumstances may also be a wise financial strategy.

When you lease equipment for up to five years, bear in mind that you are not tied to that equipment for the whole term. Clients have the option to upgrade and change some or all of the equipment at any time during the term - although this is more cost-effective if done half-way or later in that term. You simply select the new equipment. A new agreement will then replace the existing one, including cost of the equipment and the outstanding payments on the old contract, which will be discounted. This option allows many companies to keep up with new technology by replacing their equipment every two or three years, often with little or no increase in their monthly payments.

In all, leasing via a broker gives the client more choice. It saves the time and money that would otherwise be spent on shopping around to get the best or right deal. And it provides the best independent advice to suit individual circumstances.

Plasma HDTV is one of the best and most impressive technologies in the market right now. The plasma screen consists of tiny gas plasma cells that are charged at exact electrical voltages to make a picture. It uses a digital technology that has a higher resolution than the CRT TV screens. The Plasma screens can be produced to have the resolution to watch HDTV. As of now, Plasma HDTV is still superior to LCD screens in displaying blacks which means it has better contrast and picture. They also have better viewing angles than the LCD screens.

The Plasma HDTV not only gives you superior picture quality but it is also smooth and sleek. These screens are flat and light (but not quite as light as the LCD screen) and can be hung on the wall like a picture and are not limited in screen size as the other models are. Projectors

Projectors, although not technically a television, are a popular way to get the big screen experience. I am a great believer in the keeping to the basics - the totally obvious things that we all learn in Running Your Business 101, and then promptly forget. I often have people come up to me after a speech and say, "This is all blindingly obvious, just common sense." And they are right, but my immediate response is always the say, "So are you doing it...?"

This question is usually followed by a moment of silence before they explain they have moved on to other approaches now. You cannot forget the basics, because if you do you stop marketing. So if you find yourself by the end of this article saying "this is just common sense," do a reality check, and see if you have stopped using your common sense. I know I often do.

The most important basic to remember is that Marketing is an Attitude to Business that Puts the Customer First. If you and everyone in your business understands this then everything else about marketing falls into place. You have to make your entire business marketing oriented. It's seems not to be a popular concept in the west, but we are here to serve our customers. If we don't they will go elsewhere. Let me relate a story.

Some years ago, late on a Saturday afternoon my eldest daughter remembered she didn't have any school shoes for the start of term the following Monday. Panic! We rushed to a nearby and surprisingly empty major chain store where three members of staff were wrestling with a till roll. I waited... and waited... and waited... Eventually I said, "Can you help me please; my daughter needs some new shoes?" A girl looked up; surprised and apparently irritated by my presence, she pointing across the store said, "The children's shoes are over there, if you find a style you like I'll see if we have her size."

We left... and we raced 15 miles to another town (the stores closed at 5.30 pm) where I knew there was a small privately owned shoe store. When I walked into this little double fronted store it was in chaos. They clearly were having a very busy day. There were empty shoe boxes and children everywhere and the owner of the store was on his knees in the middle of the store checking the fit of a pair of shoes.

As I entered a bell rang on the door. He looked up immediately and said "Oh hello, I'll be with you in just a moment." And he was. I said "My daughter wants fashionable shoes for school but she can destroy a pair of Doc Martins in a week." "I know exactly what you mean," he said, "Let me see what I have." He quickly measured her feet and a minute later returned with two pairs of robust, but very fashionable shoes, one of which my daughter immediately loved.

I have never forgotten that day. This was a man who understood service and delivered it so well that he was able to undercut the chain store prices. He is still in business today 10 years later - the chain store I am pleased to say, is not. You have to take this kind of attitude in everything your business does.

I walked into an office once and there was a big poster on the wall.

Have your child write letters to family members about new things that are happening with them, the first day of school for example and add a picture of their first day. Send them off, and yes with a real stamp! It's a great way for you child to build up their vocabulary, writing and spelling skills.

Have a family night and play board games that encourage spelling.

Online Scrabble dictionary accessory. Help for those who play Scrabble online or offline.

Scrabble, Upwards or Boggle are some great examples. There are also versions of these games and many more like them for younger children.

These are just a few ideas for how to create a learning environment for your children. The great part about learning is it never ends, no matter how old or young you are there is always something new out there to explore.

Subsequently, the Punjab became the recruiting ground for the British. This staunch and loyal Sikh support was to show itself again during the great wars.

During the First World War Sikhs joined the ranks of the British Army in great numbers. They fought in the trenches of Germany and at Gallipoli where thousands of Sikhs fought and died. The British Indian Army was made of nearly 20% Sikhs, despite the fact that Sikhs account for only 2% of the population in India.

During the Second World War this action was repeated. Even though there was now a quest for Indian Independence the British Indian Army grew from 189,000 at the start of the war to over 2.5 million through voluntary recruitment and a large proportion of those were Sikh. At no other time in history has a foreign army this large been voluntarily mobilised to fight for a foreign land as if it were their own country. The significance of this should not be underestimated.

Needless to say, the time after loss is volatile and confusing for most people. Unresolved issues come to the fore and questions we have not answered must often be confronted. Along with a sense of abandonment and sorrow, anger often arises. Most have little understanding of what they are going through, or what to expect in the future. Facing the unknown can produce additional fear.

Yet crisis means opportunity. When the process of grief is handled properly suffering can be diminished and symptoms that may appear later, can be forestalled. It is even possible for the individual to grow a great deal during this time and benefit from the experience.

The more we understand what we are going through, the less out of control we will feel. At a time like this we need context, meaning and direction. We need to know what to expect and how to handle the many changes that are happening.

The Dynamics of Loss and Grief

Each person reacts differently to loss and that is fine. Some feel abandoned, others feel betrayed and afraid. Some reach out for love and comfort, while others withdraw, wanting time alone. Some go into denial and seem not to register the loss that has happened. These individuals are often unconsciously processing what has happened, not ready to face reality yet. They may fear they will be overwhelmed if they allow themselves to register what has gone on at this time.

It is best not to pressure a person to react differently. When the individual is accepted for who they are at the moment, it is easier for them to let go, and move on. This entire process takes time. It helps greatly to realize that the pain we go through during grief is normal. It does not mean there is something wrong with us. We need not feel ashamed of or afraid of our feelings.

What Happens When We Are Grieving

When we are grieving, interest in the outside world subsides, we slow down, sleep more, our social activities seem less meaningful. This is not necessarily bad. An individual may need more time alone. In this process the grieving individual is contemplating the nature of their lives and relationships, and coming to terms with the person they've lost. They may be reviewing that which was left unsaid or undone.

Grief is usually most difficult when the individual has had troubled or incomplete relationship. When there have been unsolved conflicts left behind, this makes it harder to be at peace. Many spend time blaming themselves for what they did or didn't do. Others blame doctors, helpers or family members. Casting blame is a way of removing the guilt and sorrow we feel. The sooner they are able to let go of blame and accusations, the sooner they start on the road of healing.

Let Go Of Blame

Blame, self hate and other forms of anger, are common during grief. Although it is important not to repress anger and disappointment, it is best to feel it and then let it go. Some individuals hold onto anger as a way of keeping connected to the person or situation they have lost. The truth is that anger always keeps us out of balance. It is a poison to the one who holds onto it.

Coming To Terms - Steps You Can Take

Ultimately one must reconcile oneself to what happened. Most people do all they can to avoid experiencing their feelings or situation directly. Many fear that if they face their suffering, it will make them feel small and helpless. Actually, the opposite is true. In order to deal with grief wisely, it's best not to control or resist the feelings. When different emotions arise be gentle with yourself and patient. When these feelings are not resisted, they simply come to awareness and then fade away.

Feelings that are repressed come out later in different ways, including various physical symptoms, phobias and unwanted behaviors. If we do not address our feelings in one mode, they will appear in another - physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually.

Through acceptance of reality, of oneself and the other, one develops the power the affirm life, and to grow. One can then give to others, and become a source of inspiration, and live a life that is meaningful. The discovery and experience of value and meaning in one's life and one's losses is the most potent healing of all.

Hopefully, we come to a point where forgiveness can take place, (forgiveness of the person we've lost, forgiveness of ourselves, the universe, or whatever it is we feel anger with). In order to do this, it is deeply helpful to realize that all of life is temporary. People possessions, situations are given to us for a short time. As we acknowledge the transitory nature of life, we can then begin to look deeper and see what it is that we never lose.

Below are a couple of exercises that are helpful in coming to terms with the relationship you have lost, and with the meaning of loss itself.

Exercise - Giving Gifts

Make a list of the gifts you received from the person, the ways they taught and inspired you. Now find ways to give those gifts to others. As you do so, not only will you be acknowledging what you received from that person, but honoring their memory and keeping their spirit alive.

Exercise - It Suffices

Whenever you think of the person and the way they fell short, what they didn't give you, say to yourself, "It Suffices." This is in recognition that they gave all they could, being who they were, and that you can feel satisfied with what you received. (This is an ancient Buddhist practice)

Prayer, Silence And Meditation

Of course the deepest sense of healing, peace and security can come from our connection to God, A Higher Power or our Higher Selves, (different people call it by different names). During the process of grieving it is very helpful to be able to connect with that which is ultimately meaningful to you. Either through prayer, silence, contemplation or meditation, know that you are looked after and protected and that there is a larger purpose in all that happens, though you may not be totally aware of it. Our true security, in all kinds of circumstances, comes from this kind of understanding.

Exercise

- Turn to a feeling you are having and enter a dialogue with it. Ask, "What are you saying to me?" Listen for an answer. Ask, "What can I learn from this difficult situation? How can I grow strong?" Become silent and listen. As you do this more and more, insight and inspiration will come your way.

- Think of three times in your life when you felt particularly sad or upset. Notice how you handled it. Did you express the feeling? Did you take action on it? Did you pretend it wasn't there? What happened to you physically? Take a moment to write all this down. Look at the connections between your feelings, actions and reactions. Become aware.

As you become more aware of the journey grief takes you on, you will grow, emotionally and spiritually. You will realize that after loss, something new is always born. Life never stops offering opportunities. Knowing this you will become a source of strength and inspiration to others at this time as well.

At every moment you can tell if the vibration that you are sending is either a positive one or a negative one by identifying the feeling you are experiencing. At every moment you have a feeling and that feeling is causing you to emit or send off a vibration - and in the 'vibrational' world there are only two kinds of vibrations; positive or negative. So as you talk about what you don't want and make negative declarative statements, in that moment you are sending out and emitting a negative vibration. Law of Attraction then matches it by giving you more of the same.

You can reset your vibration from a negative one to a positive one by simply choosing different words and different thoughts. It's as easy as asking yourself, "So what do I want?" As I've said before, when you talk about what you don't want and then talk about what you do want the words change. When the words change the vibration changes and you can only hold one vibration at a time. In other words, you are resetting your vibration. The best news of all is that the Law of Attraction doesn't remember what vibration you were sending out five minutes ago, five days ago, five months ago or 50 years ago. If the number is high in any period you could risk loosing your third party merchant account altogether. So what do you do when there are some who will request a refund within 15 minutes of purchasing your product? Or even more pettier are those who will wait until the last possible moment to request a refund. Well not all is lost because merchant account providers are very well informed as to the credit card numbers of persistent refund and chargeback claimants. Just like their list of fraudulent credit card users, stolen credit cards etc they have a database of what I call "Refund Junkies". There appears to be no end to the unethical tactics some people will use to get your product for free.

Use the following tips to further safeguard against refunds and expensive chargeback costs. The good news is that refunds are easy to process and do not carry any additional fees. However as a merchant you want to ensure that refunds are kept to a minimum.

1. Clearly State the Billing Name

First and foremost state the name of your third party credit card processor on your sales pages and include them in your terms and follow up email receipts so that customers are fully aware of what company name will appear on their billing statements. This will reduce the number of customers who do not recognize the billing name on their statements from contacting their credit card issuers for a chargeback. This one factor can lead to an unprecedented number of chargebacks claims.

2. Provide Your Customer Support Details

Provide your email address so that customers can contact you regarding any queries about their order. Make sure that you answer them in a timely manner to avoid unnecessary delays. If a customer is not responded to promptly they are very likely to make a refund request.

3. Offer Lifetime Updates

Offering your customers lifetime updates to your product and services to add value and will encourage them to remain customers in the knowledge that they will always receive your most current edition of your goods.

4. Reward Loyal Customers With Exclusive Privileges

Offer your customers a product that can be used freely as long as they are fully paid members, as part of a membership site. Or use a tool which is only available to customers and cannot be accessed after a refund request is made. As long as your offer is valuable to your customers and members you are will substantially reduce the number of refund requests.

5. Provide The Best Guarantee
Your guarantee could become a thorn in your side if you have a very short time span before customers can test out and use your product. But studies show that the longer the guarantee period the less refund requests are made because customers are more comfortable with their rights to cancel if the product or service does not meet their needs.

This is at your discretion as a merchant so testing is important to work out what is best for you. Remember to take into account that some third party processors have a limit on the maximum refund time their merchants can issue to customers.

6. Accurate Product Descriptions
Avoid making bold claims that are "too good to be true" if you cannot deliver the results. You could be setting yourself up for a big fall and your customers will request refunds if your product description does not fulfill their needs. You could also be breaking the law and be liable to charges if a law suit is brought against your company. Make sure your sale letter accurately reflects your goods for sale and highlight the TRUE benefits of owning the goods.

7. Surprise Bonuses

It is a great surprise when you buy something and receive additional unadvertised bonuses. This can warm your customers to your company and can only please them. It also demonstrates that you do not need to publicize your bonuses because you believe in your product so much that it will sell on its own merit.

Dispelling Myths

All too often I have read articles and statements claiming that with third party merchant accounts there are no chargeback fees and that you never have your company name display on customer statements. These claims are inaccurate.

The facts are that some do not have chargeback fees. I have personally researched 90+ third party processing companies and have contacted them to verify certain key points in their terms of contract and fee schedule. There are some third party processors that do not issue chargeback fees or refunds, such as can be found with some digital gold currencies. In this case the merchant must initiate a refund directly to the customer.

There are some third party processors who do not levy chargeback fees but you will find that these are very few in number and they will typically have a higher processing fee to cover their costs. Don't be mistaken in thinking that third party processors do not pass on chargeback fees to their merchants. You only have to read their terms in full to find out exactly what you can expect to be charged for per chargeback incident. Prospects will peruse your sales letter if they discover you have a solution (or solutions) to their existing or future problem or problems.

To write a "solution-savvy" sales letter follow the copywriter's adage: write "client-centered" copy. Zero in on the prospect, his business, his needs, his problems. Then pitch yourself as the freelancer who can fulfill his needs and solve his problems. Crown your claims with clients whom you've worked for and specific results you've achieved on solving similar problems.

1) What does it take to make people want to buy "you" rather than some other internet marketer?

2) What might make people want to unsubscribe from your list?

3) And what pushes them into asking for a refund?

What Makes People Want to Buy?

- They buy if they can see that a product will give them new knowledge and understanding.

- They buy if the purchase will speed up business growth.

- They buy if a product will automate a task that eats into their time. (People quickly learn to spend their time on marketing and product creation, rather than repetitive tasks.)

Tip: Once newbies have been exposed to a few sales pages, it's not long before they learn to look beyond the sales hype. They study a sales letter carefully to work out what the product will "really" offer them. (Do they need this? Or will it duplicate something else they own?)

They also learn to look for value for money. Some higher-priced products are worth every cent. Some cheaper products add very little to what they already know.

(Note: Savvy internet marketers already realize that if they put together online interviews offering truly valuable information, they are far more likely to attract and keep new customers. A quick example: Jane Smith listens to a one-hour audio interview on search engine optimization and traffic. She finds out some really useful information she has not so far heard anywhere else. She decides that this guy knows what he's talking about and shells out a couple of hundred dollars for his products.)

What Makes People Want to Unsubscribe from a List?

- Getting four identical emails trying to sell them the same product, because the sender hasn't figured out how to move them from one list to another after they buy.

- Getting a 'canned' email sounding full of excitement about a new product or service - which turns out to be a duplicate of the email they get from six other marketers who are affiliates for the same product.

- Getting email from a product creator about anything under the sun because you bought XXX product from them. If your customers sign up for a newsletter, they expect mailings.

What Makes People Want to Ask for a Refund?

In the past, buyers tended to shrug and write off a bad purchase. But increasingly, people are prepared to stand up for their rights. If they feel they have not received value for money, they will ask for a refund.

So what makes them decide to ask for their money back?

- Software that doesn't work as it is supposed to.

- Physical products (CDs, DVDs) that don't work on their systems.

- An e-book that is full of content easily found in an hour's net-surfing.

- An e-book that has skimped on content or that has been poorly written.

- An e-book that not only skimps on content but is full of links to up-sells to get the 'really valuable' information, or is full of affiliate links.

The last case, an e-book full of affiliate links or links to an up-sell...is something you should be giving away free as part of your viral marketing campaign. Charge for it and you risk your reputation for being a source of quality information.

Other things that bite into your customer's valuable time.

- MP3's that are streamed from a website rather than being downloadable.

- e-books that are in ".exe" format only, so the customer can't print them out in one 'hit' (and can't access them on a Mac computer).

Give your clients anything that they can listen to or read away from the computer. Most of them spend enough hours a day at the keyboard already. They'd rather load an audio interview into their MP3 players and listen while they go for a walk or relax in the sun. They'd prefer to print out an e-book and read it or mark it up while sitting in an easy chair.

Please, please don't tether them to the computer!

And finally, about those "name squeeze" pages. People are very quickly getting tired of having to give up their email addresses just to get to a sales page. Do you want them to buy or not? These days, unless there's a huge buzz around the Net and they want to see what it's all about, prospective customers are just as likely to click the 'back' button on their browser, or close the window and leave.

After all, there's always another internet marketer waiting to sell them a product. Probably one very similar to yours. Marketers who respect their client's time and intelligence are the ones who will get their loyalty - and their cash.

or rather the expression of appreciation, is essential for emotional health and well-being. Appreciation is a skill that we can all learn. But it has to start at home. It has to start with appreciation for you.

Appreciation of self may not come easily. I don't know about you but I grew up with the sense that to 'blow my own trumpet' was a bad thing - something I shouldn't do because I wouldn't be liked if I did. Being liked was important to me - so I didn't blow my own trumpet - ever. I also rarely felt good about myself. In my seeking to understand me I discovered that a powerful connection exists here..

If you don't already feel good about yourself, and you seek happiness, then learning the art of self-appreciation is the key to unlocking the good feelings you'd like to feel inside of you. With that in mind I have some exercises for you to complete. I would like you to make a chart of your life. Write down a list of numbers that represent ages from 0 to your current age - one line for each. Then just allow your mind to drift over each of those ages briefly and note down anything significant to you in the way of a success, or an achievement - something you felt good about at the time, or you feel good about now. Things like starting school; passing some exams; getting a job; getting a job you wanted; kissing someone you liked; first-time sex; riding a roller coaster; taking a picture; first pay check; growing a plant from seed; eating something you'd grown; fulfilling a dream; healing. It really doesn't matter what it is, it definitely doesn't matter if the rest of world would see it as insignificant, what matters is that it was important to you and made you feel good, or excited, or happy.

Now when you've been over the list and filled in all the major events, look at the gaps and see if you can possibly find something to put on every single line. That's a bit of a challenge I admit, and there is certainly no failure if you have big gaps, but you will find that as you move your mind towards thinking in terms of achievements and successes that more and more memories will come up.

Now, buy an expensive frame, and frame this 'certificate' of achievement and hang it on your bedroom wall. If you have a computer and like to play around, type in all the information and turn it into an impressive and attractive certificate and print it on some quality notepaper. As you look at it every morning and every evening and see just what a wonderfully successful person you are, you may find that any gaps will soon be filled as your mind switches its focus from failure to success. Pick one item each day, fetch back the memory, and fully appreciate the importance of that event in your life.

One other activity I'd like you to engage in is another simple exercise. At night, just before you drift off to sleep, I'd like you to wander through your day in your mind and find between 1 and 5 things that happened that day that you appreciate. It doesn't matter how small these items of appreciation are. There is always something good in a day. If the sun came up this morning then that's a good thing. If you put food in your mouth, and water in your belly - that's a good thing. If you enjoyed the food and drink - that's even better. If you saw a flower, or enjoyed its scent, then make note, if you were lost in its beauty for a moment - then that's a miracle. If your car started, or your bus turned up; if you have a job, or lots of free time... if you took a breath and were still alive to enjoy breathing it out again... the list of ordinary, mundane, incredible things that happen to us each day, and that we take so totally for granted, is endless. Start to notice them and continue this exercise until you feel that appreciation and sense of wonder at the time you are experiencing the event.

Make this conscious effort to agree to spend a moment or two each day to express sincere appreciation and thanks for the miracles that exist around you and within you. Learn to appreciate the wonder of you, for none of these experiences could exist without you the Experiencer to enjoy and appreciate them. Your experiences are unique to you. When you experience joy the planet has more joy in it. By the simple act of appreciating those simple, yet wonderful, things that you experience, you will change your world for the better.

Summer decorating is a wonderful time to lighten up the colors and fabrics in your home. While you may not be able to decorate every room, there are numerous ways to add summer flair. You can decorate with a summer theme such as fruit (apples, strawberries, grapes), flowers (roses, carnations, daisies), or seaside nautical in addition to following some of the ideas listed below.

1. Replace heavy drapery with light sheers.

The sheers provide an airy appeal while letting in the sunshine. If removing your existing drapery is not an option, consider changing just the valance and tiebacks to a lighter color. Another option is to use grapevine wreaths, strands of beads, artificial flowers, or decorative ribbons as your tiebacks or swag holders.

2. Store away items that are not useful in the summer such as blankets, throws, and heavy quilts.

3. Lighten up the color of your sofa by placing a slipcover on it or replacing your dark colored pillows with lighter colors.

4. Place light colored slipcovers on your all-wood dining room or kitchen chairs.

5. To add a lighter summer touch to your dark wood tables, use white lace or doilies as runners or tablecloths.

6. If you have a heavy bedspread, considering replacing it with a lightweight linen blanket.

7. Bring in the outdoors by adding fresh flowers in vases or baskets to counters, tabletops, and nightstands.

8. Add summer accessories around your home such as birdhouses, sea shells, bowls of fruits or vegetables, and summer reading materials.

9. If you have dark lampshades, replace them with lighter ones.

10. Repaint a dark hallway in your favorite hue such as buttery yellow, a creamy tan, or a fresh apple green.

11. Display a grouping of floral plates on a wall, hutch, or fireplace mantle.

12. Clean out the ashes in your fireplace and fill the firebox with a large artificial fern or a basket of colorful flowers.

13. Place twigs in tall vases and set on each side of the fireplace mantle.

14. To add summer whimsy to your bathrooms, hang lightweight fabric shower curtains printed with ladybugs, bees, flowers, or palm trees. Display matching hand towels and rugs to continue the summer theme.

15. Change the layout of your furniture to give your rooms a fresh, new look.

Decorating your home for the summer does not have to be complicated or cost a lot of money. As you can see from the ideas listed above, a new lamp shade, adding new fabrics, or changing the paint color of a room can breathe new life into your interior design. So, have fun and use your imagination to bring some fresh new looks into your home for the summer season.

Clear Your Clutter, Clear Your Mind

�€� Are you embarrassed when you walk into your home or office?
�€� Do you frequently run out of space?
�€� Is your desk piled high with UPO's (unidentified piled objects)?
�€� Are you frustrated by the amount of time you spend looking for things?

If so, you're not alone! Research shows the average person spends 150 hours per year looking for misplaced information, while eight out of ten people have at least one area of their home or office they would prefer that no one ever see!

The word "clutter" comes from the same root word as "clot". Webster's Dictionary defines it as "to run in disorder, to fill or cover with scattered or disordered things that impede movement or reduce effectiveness."

Clutter affects our society at every level - our personal lives, our families, our work, our businesses, and the world in general. It seems easy enough to eliminate - just throw it away. If that were true, more people would do it. So what's the problem?

Frequently clutter is an emotional issue. Ironically, many of us have clutter because we were forced to give us something we considered valuable earlier in our lives, and now we can't even get rid of the junk in our lives. People who lived through The Great Depression, for example, cling to every minute object in the extreme fear that someday they might need it. A 25-year-old man, describing his home in which no friends or family had been for months wept as he recalled the death of his mother when he was four. A woman who shared her bedroom with four sisters at the age of eight now hangs on with desperation to everything that comes in her space at the age of 80. A gentleman shared that the dates of his clutter began the year he retired. Slums are filled with junk. The poorer we are - in body or spirit -- the more we hang on: "It might be useful some day." The irony is that the more we hang on to what is not useful, the less room there is in our lives for those things which encourage us to be productive!

After spending 20+ years in the homes and offices of America, I have concluded that there are five components to a clutter- controlled environment:

1. Vision. It is impossible to even define our own clutter if we do not hold a clear picture of who we are, or what we are about. A photographer had on-going dreams about living in a tall, white tower with glass windows, while her real home was buried in clutter accumulated over 30+ years. When we focused on her love of the arts and what was aesthetically beautiful, letting go of the unsightly clutter became less painful, and even freeing.

2. Attitude. A book agent discussing the idea of a book on the subject of clutter commented, "Some of us are just slobs." Only if you want to be. Creating a pleasing and productive environment requires a process. If you honor the process, you will succeed.

3. Time. "How long is this going to take and how much is it going to cost?" is the first question asked by potential clients. My answer: "It doesn't really matter, but the longer you wait, the longer it's going to take and the more it's going to cost."

4. Tools. Growing up on a farm in Nebraska, my father taught me "Half of any job is having the right tool." The amount of effort required to control the clutter in your environment is directly related to the tools you use. One woman eliminated her struggle with scraps of paper on which she had scribbled phone numbers and appointments when she discovered that the only thing that mattered to her about her calendar was that it was beautiful.

5. Preservation. People often say, "Oh I can get organized. I just can't maintain it." Clients have taught me that if they can't maintain the environment we create with relative ease, we have to return to the one or more of the first four steps.

Your ability to enjoy your life, or to accomplish any task or goal is directly related to your ability to create and sustain a productive environment in which you can live and work.

When it comes to naming their baby, people tend to fall into two broad categories: those who want a unique name for their child and those who feel fine selecting a common name. Naturally, there are pros and cons to both choices. Let's first look at unique names.

An uncommon baby name will give your child a unique stamp for the rest of his or her life. People will be certain to remember the moment they met your child. An unconventional name will make a wonderful conversation starter, especially if there is an interesting story behind it. Your child may even grow to take great pride in their unique and thoughtful name.

On the other hand, this unique name may be the cause of ridicule, especially as your baby goes through school. Not all people will appreciate the individuality of an uncommon name. Perhaps your child will rue the lifelong attention directed at them at every introduction. Your child may even chose to go by another name to blend in with their peers.

Many of them have common first names, but have you ever considered them boring or average because of it? Of course not. We love people because of who they are, not because of their name.

Perhaps the best place for a fun, unique name is your child's middle name. You can feel free to be as creative and meaningful as possible with a middle name, for your child only has to reveal it when they feel comfortable. They may love their middle name and tell everyone about it or they may hate it, in which case they never have to use it.

When selecting your child's name, be sure to balance the desire for a creative name with the reality of actually living with the name. Feel free, however, to express your child's uniqueness with a meaningful middle name. And above all, it's just a name and people will quickly get used to it as they grow closer to your child's wonderful personality.
